How To: Update zBlock

zBlock is a program designed to enforce several client side rules and blocks multiple cvars. zBlock itself is updated relatively often and is required by many competitive leagues; therefore it’s a good idea to have an understanding how to update your zBlock installation on your game server. Updating zBlock is compromised of several simple yet important steps that must be followed in the correct order.

First you will want to make sure the particular league you're in has approved the latest release of zBlock for league play. Head over to the zBlock official website. Download the latest zBlock version to your computer and extract the files, there should be four files contained within the folder.

The next step is perhaps the most important; in order to install zBlock your game server must be stopped temporarily. The reason is simple, if you previously have zBlock installed on your server when it’s running those files are in use by the server, therefore you can’t overwrite files that are currently in usage. To make matters simple, login to your server’s rcon and type: rcon exit. This will stop your server for 3-4 minutes until our monitoring service starts it again as such due to this you will want to complete the next step relatively quickly.

When your server goes down quickly upload the files you extracted previously on your computer to your game servers ‘addons’ folder. Once uploaded now simply wait another minute or so until our monitoring service starts your server again. Then join your server and make sure everything is working. If for any reason your server fails to start say after 5 minutes of waiting, then please open a helpdesk ticket.
